Our Services

Edit My French helps non-native French writers by proofreading, editing, and enhancing their essays, poetry, books or any other professional documents. Typical users of our services are students of French as a foreign language, writers, or administrative assistants.

All our editors are French native speakers and possess at least a master degree. Most of them operate in the academic world and all have professions revolving around producing high quality French texts.

We offer different level of services:

  • Proofreading: The result is an annotated text highlighting issues. This is the most useful tool for people who want to work on their French writing and learn to correct their mistakes. Each area of concern is labeled as to help the author (agreement, tense usage, word order…) correct their writing on their own.
  • Editing: The result is a text that is equivalent to the quality produced by a native speaker while respecting the exact structure of the text. This is perfect for everyday documents like professional letters or student essays.
  • Enhancing: The result is a text ready for printing. This is most appropriate for professional writers’ articles or books, or student thesis.
  • Tutoring: Someone on our staff is always ready to answer all questions pertaining to the French language, from a single question to live lessons. Lessons can take place face to face (Minneapolis-St Paul area), by phone, or video-conference (Skype).
  • Translating: For busy professionals who need a high quality French text but only have time to provide us with an English text. We can either produce a complete translation or provide you with an executive summary of the original text.

Text Documents

We can work from any text document format you have, however, Microsoft Words or Open Office offer the possibility to keep track of the edition process. If you have neither of them, please consider using Open Office: It is free, files can be compatible with Microsoft Words and it offers great editing features. In all cases we will try to send back documents in the same format as the original text.


Turn Around Time

We know how important your work is to you and how anxious you are to submit your edited manuscript to your publication of choice. We will return most edited text to you within 5 to 15 business days from the time we receive it.

As you might expect, shorter pieces have shorter lead times and longer documents take longer to edit. Examples:

  • Less than 1,000 words: 5 business days
  • Less than 5,000 words: 10 business days
  • Less than 10,000 words: 15 business days
  • Over 10,000 words: To be negotiated

Submit your manuscript

  1. Use the “Get a Free Estimate” form to enter your name, your email address, and click on “Browse” to locate the file you want to submit on your computer.  Add as many comments as possible to describe what you expect from us and click on “Send”.
  2. Once we receive your file, we will quickly determine the exact number of words it contains and then send you an official quote with the turnaround time required to edit your manuscript.
  3. Upon receipt of your confirmation that the quote is acceptable, we will immediately start the editing process.
  4. When the editing process is complete, we will send you an invoice. Upon receipt of your payment, we will quickly send you your edited manuscript.

Payment Type

For your convenience we accept Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), Paypal, and personal checks.

  • Credit Cards and Paypal: Credit card payments are processed by Paypal, one of the largest credit card processing companies in the world. After the work is completed on your manuscript, we will e-mail you an electronic invoice detailing the services we have performed, the amount due, and instructions on how to make payment via your credit card. Upon receipt of your payment, we will send your edited manuscript.

  • Checks: We will contact you at least 2 days before the scheduled return of your edited manuscript. As part of this correspondence, we will provide you with an invoice detailing all services performed and the amount due. Upon receipt of confirmation of your payment, we will send your edited manuscript.
